DESCRIPTION
The insect-pathogenic bacterium Photorhabdus luminescensand its symbiotic nematode partner, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora hunt insects like the tobacco hornworm larva. In this issue, Kontnik et al. describe the genetic manipulation of a global transcriptional regulator, HexA, in P. luminescens. Inactivation of this repressor led to the discovery of new compounds in the multifunctional stilbene class.
