Description of Color Atlas of Clinical Hematology
Color Atlas of Clinical Hematology 4th Edition written by Hoffbrandt, Pettit & Vyas ebook for Clinical Hematology study available in PDF to get a free download. Since the previous edition was published in 2000, major advances have occurred in the understanding of the molecular basis of hematological diseases. The World Health Organization (2008) Classification of Hematological Malignancies has incorporated this new knowledge to define many of these diseases and to add new entities. Molecular genetics is also now used more widely to classify benign disorders such as thalassemias, inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, iron refractory iron deficiency anemia, hemochromatosis, and inherited coagulation disorders.
We have attempted to fully illustrate this new knowledge in the fourth edition of the Color Atlas of Clinical Hematology you can get free pdf download. Scientific diagrams, images of cytogenetics, fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH), and gene arrays are included throughout. Fluorescent-activated cell sorting (FACS) and new imaging techniques, including FDG-PET, widely used in the diagnosis of Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, are also extensively included.
The two original authors have been joined for this edition by Dr. Paresh Vyas from the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine; Dr. Vyas has taken responsibility for the first three chapters, which deal with the basic science of blood formation, including cell machinery, cellular aspects of hematopoiesis, and growth factors. We give only brief descriptions of therapy and have omitted the section from the previous edition on fine needle aspirate (FNA) appearances in nonhematological disease since FNA has now largely been replaced by trust biopsy in hematological practice.
